Teams earn points from their showcases, which are combined with their battle points. The top 4 teams showcase their routines again in The Final. The initial showcase determines the ranking points for The Final, while the second showcase in The Final competes for the Best Showcase prize.

Every team that makes it to the festival will be interviewed at their first training, during their final showcase rehearsal, and after battles at the Semi Finals and The Final

Q: What are the differences between the 1vs1 Hiphop, 1vs1 Open-Styles, and 5vs5 Open-Styles categories?
1vs1 Hiphop: A solo dancer battles another strictly to Hiphop music.
1vs1 Open-Styles - Solo dancers face off, each choosing a music style for one round and dancing to the opponent's choice in another. Options include: House, Litefeet (new!), Popping, Afro, Break, Dancehall, Experimental, Krump, Locking, Waacking, Vogue.
5vs5 Open-Styles - Crew of 5 dancers competes against another. Music styles are randomly selected from our 1vs1 Open-Styles list, including Hiphop. Crews don't select a music style
Q: Can I participate in multiple categories?
Absolutely! Participating in multiple categories can earn you more points.
Q: How does the team/crew selection process work?
Crews can qualify in two ways:
Preselection Ranking Winner: The crew with the most points from Battle Events 1 and 2 will qualify for The Semi Finals on 31 October and 1st of November. The Final will take place on the 2nd of November.
Main Preselection Winner: The crew that wins the 5vs5 Open-Styles battle in Event 2 will qualify for The Finals on 20 & 21 October.

Q: How many preselection events must I attend?
Attend as many as you wish. However, to qualify for the October festival and The Finals, you must participate in Battle Event 2 in September. More participation increases your chances of reaching the festival.
Q: What if I'm chosen by another captain than the one I was hoping for?
In the Team Selection phase, you can say 'no' to a captain 1 time. If another captain chooses you, you must join or exit the competition. A 'no' is final, and if no other captain picks you, you're out.
Q: What happens if I am not chosen by any team captain in the Team Selection?
Your participation for this season ends. However, we would still love to have you as a guest at the festival and will offer a free ticket to one of the semi-finals.

Q: What does the training program in September and October involve?
The program spans 5 days with at least 4 hours of training daily. IDL follows the Hiphop principle "Each One Teach One": experienced dancers mentor the younger generation. Teams work on creating a unique team signature, choreographies, and solos. They also prepare for various dance styles for the battle rounds. Additionally, we offer workshops and networking sessions for holistic development.

While you can choose to perform routines, remember these are freestyle battles, so rounds shouldn't be fully choreographed. Also, crew and team battles are collective efforts; not all rounds should be solos.

Semi Finals - Round-Robin Tournament
In a round-robin tournament, each team dances against every other team in the tournament or their pool, whether they win or lose. This means that each team gets multiple chances to dance.
The Final - Knock-Out Tournament
In a knockout tournament, a team is eliminated as soon as it loses a match. This means that teams that lose early in the tournament will have far fewer opportunities to dance.

The top 4 teams, determined by the combined points from battles and showcases in the Semi Finals, will proceed to The Finals.

Yes, trophies are awarded for the winning team, best dancer, and crowd favorite. The winning team also receives jackets.
